Functional
Rehabilitation Seminars

Philosophy:
Experience the Difference
Functional Rehabilitation is a new clinical paradigm where exercise, joint
and soft tissue mobilizations, sensory-motor adaptation strategies, and behavioral interventions are integrated into functional
movement patterns that can be efficiently transferred by the patient/client
to task specific functions at home, work, or during recreational and sports
activities. Functional rehabilitation crosses the age span and specialty
practice areas of orthopedics, neurologic,
cardiopulmonary and geriatric physical and occupational therapy. The
principles can be used for the management of acute and chronic pain syndromes
as well as neurologic impairments.
Functional Rehabilitation Seminars are well designed series of intensive
hands-on clinical education experiences based upon the following:
1.
an understanding of movement science;
2.
the principles of evidence based practice;
3.
efficient utilization of diagnostic criteria and procedures;
4.
the determination of specific pathological diagnoses and/or movement
related disorders; and
5.
the development of phased rehabilitation
protocols that are functionally based.
Each rehabilitation protocol presented during
a seminar will integrate behavioral interventions,
muscle tone reduction strategies, soft tissue and advanced mobilization
techniques, self-mobilization procedures, and the principles and techniques
for movement re-education and functional training. Patient/client progress
will be determined by the use of functional outcome measures.
